Snowy owl in a snowstorm

Baby it’s cold! This snowy owl was captured during a snowstorm. Unlike most owls, which are nocturnal, snowy owls are diurnal like the Hawaiian pueo or short-eared owl.

This picture reminds of the cover photo of the November-December 2011 edition of Orion Magazine. I love this magazine.  “Orion is a bimonthly, advertising-free magazine devoted to creating a stronger bond between people and nature.  Check it out at http://www.orionmagazine.org/index.php/mag/issue/6469
