There’s a real political animal vying for mayor in the Mexican state of Veracruz, and his “pawlicies” have the locals talking.
Two young men nominated a cat named Morris as the citizens’ candidate for mayor of Xalapa, the state capital.
If the ambitious feline wins the vote on July 7, he pledges to do what virtually all politicians do — not a whole lot. Although he does promise to cover up his messes instead of leaving them for others to clean up.
His campaign slogan, “Xalapa without rats,” seems to be working too. He currently has more Facebook “likes” — nearly 100,000 — than the four other mayoral candidates.
On his page, Morris does admit to having some weaknesses, namely “quilts, sheets, pillows, couches and clothing in general,” but the people of Xalapa have hope that he won’t become just another political fat cat if he wins the election.
